As is usual, I am short on blogging time. This is something I´m grateful for, because it means I had a lot of emails to respond to. Emails are like gold here, you have no idea.

This week was slow moving. Most of my time was spent behind the pages of a book or tagging along to random projects. My country director Iba is in Brazil for the week, and as a result Project Juana has made almost no progress. The lack of indepence I feel here is smothering. I feel like a child, unable to do anything on my own. I so desperatly wish to speak the language, and for once do something by myself. This of course is impossible due to the buddy system we have to practice, but a girl can dream right? Taking initiative is something I´ve grown accustomed to, and with that taken away from me I´m not sure what to do. I´ll figure something out though, this week will be a better one no doubt.

On a brigher note, I did recieve some serious tender mercies this week.

#1. The upper level of our apartment (which is where my room is) flooded yet again. This time my phone and my camera were on the floor, and as a result were thought to be gone forever. I immediately contacted home and my sweet sweet mother sent me a new camera by the end of the day. We have a site visit this week from headquarters and they are going to bring it with them. My mom is really the best out there. I sure am blessed to have her around.

#2. Glinda, one of the two turkeys I room with, left the cage and entered my belly this week. She kept laying eggs, which was thought to be a great sign, until she ended up eating them all. She was then deemed useless and now I only get to listen to one turkey as I try to sleep. Happy day!

#3. Out of desperation I submused my phone and camera in a large bag of rice after the flood. Sadly, they still didn´t work. I decided to leave them in the sun for a day, because really what else could go wrong, and in a matter of hours both of my electronic devices were up and running! If that isn´t a tender mercy I don´t know what is!

I´m doing my best to keep my chin up, because that is something I can in fact have control over. It was a slow moving week, but one full of blessings that I´m glad I had time to recognize. I would be ungrateful if I didn´t. May your week be full of plenty of your own adventures!

until next time
